ELGIN BAYLOR V. DONALD STERLING AND THE NBA : BAYLOR'S LAWYERS DROPPED THE BALL; BAYLOR PROBABLY HAD A GOOD RACE DISCRIMINATION CASE, IF HIS CASE HAD BEEN PRESENTED TO THE JURY. BAYLOR IS THE ONLY REAL AND ACTUAL BASKETBALL VICTIM OF STERLING'S RACISM, AND HE WAS LEFT WITHOUT RELIEF. IF BAYLOR STILL SEEKS A LEGAL REMEDY FOR THE RACIAL DISCRIMINATION BY STERLING, HE STILL HAS TWO. ONE OF WHICH IS TO SUE THE LAWYERS THAT HANDLED HIS DISCRIMINATION CASE FOR MALPRACTICE. CALL ME, ELGIN.

REST IN PEACE, MR. BAYLOR

Elgin Baylor, *the former L.A. Laker great and L.A. Clipper general manager,  has now passed away, at the age of 86.  As  a lawyer, and especially a Black lawyer, I will always feel some pain and/or hurt for Baylor for his having his civil rights claims , race and age discrimination, withdrawn without going before a jury on those claims.  His case was botched by his lawyers, and I don’t know whether it was just ineffective assistance of counsel or something else, e.g., like a fighter throwing a fight for a larger prize.  All I know is, the civil rights claims should not have been withdrawn (and I reached that conclusion by examining a part of his case).  Rather, his racial discrimination/age discrimination claims should have gone to a jury for determination and decision.  He was provided a disservice.  I will always remember and feel some pain for Baylor, especially since he turned to a Black lawyer, initially, for help. It hurts.

Rest in Peace , my brother .
